| I was told when i enrolled i could do a transfer to ISU to get my BA which i am doing. I am on a approved transfer degree at ivytech. I was told the other day by a student it is hard to get in ISU. I told her i had been told if you graduate from Ivytech you automaticaly get into ISU if they take your degree. Is this true if not how hard is it to get into ISU with a ivytech transfer degree. I did not take the SATs or any of that stuff and i have my GED so am i screwed |

Here is the response from the Enrollment Services Coordinator from ISU:
Receiving a GED will not keep you from attending ISU nor will the
lack of SAT's or ACT's. We like to see at least 32 credit hours to be
considered a transfer student. ISU accepts the Ivy Tech Associates and
any other credits as long as they are 100 level or above, have made a C
or better and meet the ISU requirements for general education or the
major. Of course nothing is automatic. Overall GPA still needs to be at
least 2.0. I hope this helps with your question. Anytime you are in
doubt I will be happy to run a DARS report for the student. |

For those Ivy Tech students wishing to transfer to Indiana State University, applicants may apply as early as one academic term in advance of their intended semester of enrollment.
Transfer students who have earned 24 or more transferable semester credits need not ordinarily submit a high school transcript. However, transfer students wishing to receive college credit for their foreign language in high school (with a C average in all foreign language courses), should have their high school transcript sent to the Office of Admissions where the completion of the foreign language requirement will be recorded.
Transfer students who have not taken SAT or ACT but have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C average) in all college level classes may be considered for admission after earning at least 24 transferable semester credits from another regionally accredited collegiate institution.
Freshman applicants under 21 years of age and transfers who have completed fewer than 24 transferable semester credits must submit scores for the SAT or the ACT. Test scores are used to obtain a measure of the individual’s academic aptitude, to assist in academic advising, and to assure proper course placement.
Only transfer credits earned in college-level courses (typically numbered 100 or higher) from a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of C or higher will be assigned credit. A maximum of 94 transfer credits may be assigned toward a bachelor’s degree; a maximum of 47 transfer credits may be assigned toward an associate’s degree.
Transfer credits are assigned only for college-level courses.
Admission by Exception
Applicants whose academic records do not satisfy the requirements listed above may petition the Office of Admissions for special consideration. The petition provides an opportunity for students to describe factors, which may have led to inadequate academic achievement, and their educational goals and motivation. Applicants admitted by exception are placed on academic probation during their first semester of enrollment. If they are unable to achieve at least a 2.0 grade point average during their first semester at Indiana State University, they will be subject to academic dismissal. |
