1. Rename "Distance Learning" so that it reads "BlackBoard." Distance Learning is incorrect as a designation, since many of us use BlackBoard for our face to face classes. It's misleading to students as well, because they go looking for a link listed as BlackBoard when it is mentioned in class.
2. You need a forum that permits anonymous comments for things like this. It is quite likely that you are not receiving some responses because of having to register and be identified on the boards. While the suggestion box might arguably present an alternative, the public nature of posting changes to CC provides for better feedback overall.
3. Rename "Self Service Banner" to something more intuitive - "Student and Faculty Services" would be more accurate for most of us who use this. Students in particular have no idea of what Banner is (and don't need to know what software is being used). |

Could the Student ID number be posted on the homepage of Campus Connect
or just inside SSB?
It is difficult to explain to students that they must go all the way into a registration screen to find their identificaiton number. |

I'd like to see support for RSS news feeds as well as support for social networking (Facebook, MySpace, etc.). I would also like to see mobile compatibility with Ivy Tech services (CC, Distance Learning) so that students can access these while they are away from their computers.
Also, I would like to see the universal login that people have already posted about (login once to access Distance Learning/BlackBoard, CC, and student forum).
@wsexton1: I've been able to get my CC email sent to my BlackBerry just by entering the email address. I know Outlook and (Mozilla) Thunderbird ask which type of server they access, but you should be able to find that out.
@ctropepe: I usually access BlackBoard in Firefox 3.5 from the Anderson campus, specifically from a Vista lab, and I haven't had many problems. There was an issue with assignment submissions (a dialogue box occasionally popped up requesting a valid file that didn't appear in IE), but it's been gone for about a month. |

I totally agree with scsmith to rename distance learning and self service banner.
I have encountered a couple of problems with the email program.
1. If you are working on an email and save a draft, then go back and edit the draft, the draft is an attachment to the final email. Recently I sent an instructor an email with several drafts attachments. How embarrasing!
2. The editor - if you try to use bullets or numbers in an email, it bullets/numbers the whole email rather than the highlighted part.
I appreciate this board so we can air our suggestions and pet peeves! |

I tried to find a way to add the discussion forum to a tab on my CC. I couldn't find a "channel" for the forum.
Is there one? I might have missed it but there are channels that are not self explanatory!
BTW - I thought Quote of the Day (or Motivational Quote...) might be interesting. But I don't think the following is what was intended:
"Work is not always required... there is such a thing as sacred idleness, the cultivation of which is now fearfully neglected." <p><a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/5zVej_pMbqssEO8sdS4spt5mtzc/0/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/5zVej_pMbqssEO8sdS4spt5mtzc/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a><br/> <a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/5zVej_pMbqssEO8sdS4spt5mtzc/1/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/5zVej_pMbqssEO8sdS4spt5mtzc/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a></p> |

When we're registering for classes, there really needs to be a decoder list for the location codes. Or at least one that is readily accessible.
I know some people that didn't take a class they wanted because they didn't know that "MOD 001" was at NMC. I want to take a class this summer and I can't take the one listed here at NMC. I could register for a class nearby if I knew where the classes were being held. Some examples: MAIN, IVY 2337, and there's a TBA that has an instructor listed so it must have a campus but no room number. |

| Campus advising told me that if you click on the CRN number, the next screen tells you what the campus/location. |

|
|
| I don't have issues really with CC , but noticed people are having issues with the e-mail. I recommend having a bigger size e-mail capacity for students for the simple reason that teachers might send key information for homework assignments, quizzes, etc and you want to save that information to resort back to later but it's using up space in memory with only having 15MB. I think the students should have a bigger capacity for example like something like Yahoo has with bigger storage, etc. |

| When the new email system goes live during Thanksgiving weekend student will have an email account size of 1 GB instead of 15 MB. |

|
|
Streamline the interface. It's 2009, and the archaic look of the current Campus Connect seems only a slight step up from a BBS...a streamlined interface not only looks better, but runs smoother. Most importantly most users who do complain, will stop complaining if it looked better (they're used to seeing websites such as yahoo/facebook/cnn/etc; aesthetically this is very important, as most users are not that familiar with actual code or structure, if it looks decent, such as the afformentioned websites, they won't feel the need to complain)
Remember, the less tabs the better, more tabs=visual clutter, as well as longer load times...
p.s. email me...I'll help! |
