Other than selling books back to the bookstore, how else can you sell books online? Can you post them in this forum or just use ebay?
Thanks,

I've sold books to Chegg.com & also to CKYBooks.com. Both paid as promised in a reasonable amount of time.
You can't list your books on here or the powers that be will delete your posts. Ivy Tech has a deal with eFollett that they won't help us sell/trade books among ourselves.
I used this site this past August: http://bookscouter.com/ You enter your ISBNs & it helps find the place offering the most money. You can also read about each company & they are rated on how well they have performed in the past.
It stinks for those of us stuck with Ivy Tech specific books, but hope this helps you a little! |

tking- did you try to sell your books back to the bookstore? i was just wondering because last semester i sold a book back to the bookstore i only got less than a third of what i paid for it! it was in new condition too! no highlighting, no ripped pages or anything! i was NOT happy! if you go through these websites, are you responsible for shipping the book out also? how exactly does this work? thanks for the info |

No, I've never tried to sell my books back to the bookstore because I've always heard it was a rip off.
Both of the places I used paid the shipping for me to send the books to them. Both gave me quotes based on the condition I told them the book was in (nearly all mine had highlighting in them, but no writing & otherwise in good condition - a couple were new). Chegg sends you a visa debit card, CKY sends a paper check. Chegg quoted me one price on one book & then paid a lesser amount. I called and told them the book was brand new, they rechecked the book & then mailed me a check for the difference (which was only a little over a $1, but they made good on it.)
I'd much rather sell to other Ivy Tech students, but that's become nearly impossible. Especially with the online classes often using different texts than the F2F classes. |

| ^^ not even that but they have changed the texts for a LOT of online courses. I just went to see how much they were charging at the bookstore for an idea of how much to sell for...and they have even gotten rid of the Prentice Hall face to face books for English comp. Ugh. |

Selling to the campus bookstore is a ripoff and always has been. Selling your books online is by far the best way to go. Selling to the book store is liking selling to something to a pawn shop. I would only sell to them if I had to have money immediately.
I have used ckybooks.com and Chegg also. I prefer CKY Books. Chegg always seems to have an issue with payment, or something goes wrong.
CKY Books usually offers a little less money, but is a much smoother process and I personally like to get my money via PayPal, since most of my shopping is online anyhow.
I'm sure this post will get deleted as Follet doesn't want this information coming out. |
