I think it's 6-months before you have residency, but I'm not 100% sure.

i always thought it was 1 year....but it could be six months...im not sure. i thought it was 1 year, because on the FAFSA, there is a question thats along the lines of "have you lived int he state in which you are applying for aid for 1 year or more?"

All you need is a valid state of Indiana driver's license or state ID.

It is a year, but you can be gone for some weeks and come back and still obtain residency. I've just moved to Valpo from Oregon and I've been here for seven months. Maybe getting an Indiana ID would help me become a resident by now? If not, then I suppose I have another five months to live here until I'm a resident.

in an info session put on by the school an advisor was quoted as saying, "all you need is a post office box with an Indiana address to get around the residency issue" I would not advise it in case it was every put in for verification, as I would not want to deal with all that would insue after the fact, but it was an interesting quote.

Everyone's situation is different I am sure. I've only lived here for 2 months and because I have an obvious address I've been charged in state tuition.
